Pass Several Ball Around the Circle
Purpose of this lesson:
Once the class can pass one ball around the circle successfully, we add more balls to the game.
A student has to pass one ball, then shift their attention away from that ball and focus on the next ball that is coming towards them. Student get to practice holding and shifting their attention. They also get to practice not paying attention to certain details.
Students start learning about 'log jams'. They learn to become aware of is the person in ron of them able to receive another ball or are they 'flooded'. If their receiver is flooded, they might have to hold their ball to let other balls ahead of them move. Or they may have to learn that what they are doing by not passing a ball has an effect on the rest of the students.
Students first learn by mastering a sequence of actions. Then they become freer to perceive in a 'flow' and 'field' mind state.
This processes teaches a student to pay attention to another and increasingly notice the state of every person in the circle. To play ensemble music, players need to be be attentive and in connect with each other. This game is helping students develop that skill.
