Conducting Rumbles

Why this game is important.

This is a game about following a leader and also about being a leader.

This is also about learning to play dynamics- loud, medium and soft.

Students learn to follow a signal and fluidly play it in real time.

Students in the role of leader learn to be present to the group they are leading. They must learn to lead in a way that others can follow.

In the big picture, they are learning that leadership is about service.

An important question is: How much can 3 and 4 year olds learn about leadership?

My experience is that as student have effective role models - the studnets learn to incorporate these models. And over time and with experience, they sort out which are the models they want to emulate. And the more connected and safe the students feel, them more they can evaluate which models to incorporate.
