Shakers Around the Body - Student Led

About:

This is chance for students to express themselves,
Students can learn movements from each other
Students can develop their centeredness and grounding
A shaker connects movement and sound. Moving and making sound is integrating
Using the shakers gives a focus to the movement and much proprioceptive input.

Purpose of this lesson:

Develop more body awareness, movement and spacial awareness Develop presense and embodied authority. Begin to organize more random movements into rhythm patterns.

Prerequisites:

Shakers Around The Body Teacher -Led
Ready
Asleep

Directions:

Rules and Agreements Parameters - shakers should not be thrown. Or Shakers can only be thrown as high as the top of you head. Define physical space boundaries. You have to stay in you chair or stay on your matt. Do you best to follow the leader. As the leader, start with 'Shakers Ready' and end with 'Shakers Asleep'.

Let's all practice Calling "Shakers Ready". Use a solid strong voice, not yelling but one that communicates that you mean what you say.
Go around the circle and have each student practice calling "Shakers Ready" voice and movement gesture.
Your turn should be about this long. (model about 15 seconds. End with Shakers Asleep Ok have the first leader go.
