Pass a Large Ball around the Circle - Receive, Bounce, Pass
Purpose:
Contact, Cooperation, Coordination particularly with peers / other students.
Hand eye coordination and timing.
Understanding the mechanics timing and physics of the bounce.
Set a pattern of having your turn to do something. This is good practice in tolerating performing while in the spot light and letting go of the spot light.
Student can learn and practice to follow directions as given.
Directions:
Depending on how well regulated students are and how coordinated they are, this exercise can be done sitting cross legged or standing.
Have students on a specific marker. Student has a ball passed to them. They bounce it one time and catch with both hands. Then they pass it to the next person.

Glitches:
- Student bounces the ball with no control, it goes off in an other direction.
- Be sure to affirm positive efforts, not just results.
- Some students have little experience with the timing and physics of bounces. Sometimes they just need time to experiment and practice.
- Have student bounce from a low height.
- Sit behind this student. Hold their hands in yours. You bounce the ball almost as if they are a puppet. They should start learn the rhythm and timing and feel from you.
- Student Bounces multiple times
- Take over the Problem. Emphasis is on taking others resources.
- Acknowledge students who were able to bounce one time.
- Sensei bounces ball once or multiple times. Have the group count the bounces. "Was that one or was that more?"
Next Exercise:
Pass an instrument around the room- play a particular 'piece' such as pluck each string on a ukulele or lap harp.
