Four Plus Four

About:

The magic of this game is by putting together to simple elements you can ofter making something that is incredibly interesting.

Purpose of this lesson:

Work together is another student and create something together that is larger than you would create alone

Prerequisites:

Duet leads the group. Students need to be able to generate, remember and play a part while someone is playing a different part.

Directions:

I am going to come up with a repeatable phrase. And I am going to ask my assistant to come up with a repeatable phrase.
I will play mine. Then she will play hers.
Now I am going to learn hers. And she is going to learn mine.
Then we a both going to play hers and then we will play mine.
Once we have our larger collective phrase that is made up of our two individual phrases, then we will play is and have you all join in and play it with us.

Glitches

Students play their own parts together at the same time. The focus here is to play A's part together in unison then play B's part together in unison.
Student come up with a part that they keep unintentionally changing.

When have to collaborated with someone and made something larger than you would have done alone? What are the challenges of collaborating?

Extensions:

Duet teaches the group their phrase. Group plays the collective phrase. Group plays the collective phrase antiphonally.
